Summit Spirits: Mount Everest Day 2025 Celebrated in Calgary

The Alberta Nepal Chamber of Commerce (ANCC) proudly hosted Mount Everest Day 2025 in Calgary, marking a key milestone in our mission to promote tourism and cultural exchange. Organized with NRNA Canada and NCSC, the event was backed by prestigious partners including the Nepal Tourism Board, TAAN, Tribhuvan University, and the Embassy of Nepal.
The day was a powerful display of community unity, with leaders from TOSS, Newah Society, Magar Samaj, and Tamang Samaj joining the vibrant Nepali diaspora.
Honoring Legends
The program opened with a heartfelt tribute to Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary, followed by a moment of silence for those who have lost their lives on the mountain.
The highlight of the celebration was honoring two extraordinary summiteers:
- Dave Rodney: Two-time Everest summiteer and ANCC Special Advisor.
- Mingma Tenzin Sherpa: Everest summiteer.
ANCC President Sameer Pandey and Director Dhruba Rai presented the adventurers with Certificates of Appreciation and traditional kathas. Both shared inspiring accounts of their journeys, reminding us all that with courage, anything is possible.
A Global Connection
The event received high-level support through congratulatory messages from H.E. Bharat Raj Poudyal, Ambassador of Nepal, and leaders from the Nepal Tourism Board and NRNA Canada.
Attendees enjoyed a rich cultural experience featuring:
- Insights: A presentation on Everest’s history by VP Diwas Dhakal.
- Tradition: Vibrant cultural dance performances.
- Networking: A festive setting for guests to connect over refreshments.
A special thank you to our team—Secretary Kiran Kharel, Director Vikram Adhikari, Treasurer Ananta Acharya, and Director Ghanendra Neupane—and our media partners, Laxmi LK Channel and Nepali Radio Calgary, for making this day a remarkable success.
